Dalby man arrested for Mark Wilkes' murder in house fire

BREAKING: A 43-year-old Dalby man has been arrested and charged with arson, burglary and the murder of Dalby man Mark Wilkes.

He will appear in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Monday, February 8.

On Wednesday, January 20 emergency services were called to a house fire at Mr Wilkes' residence in Edward Street at about 10.30pm.

Fire crews were able to contain the fire to the front living room and quickly extinguish the blaze.

They then found the body of Mr Wilkes.

Upon investigation detectives determined the blaze had been deliberately lit.

Police worked on investigations with the homicide squad and conducted a series of interviews before making the arrest.
