THE committal hearing of Linc Energy v the DEHP has ended with Linc Energy being formally charged with five instances of environmental harm.

"Having considered the evidence before the court...I am of the opinion that the evidence is sufficient to put the defendant on trial for each charge," Magistrate Kay Ryan said.

Linc Energy will be formally charged, appearing in the criminal sittings at District Court in Dalby at a date which has yet to be decided by the Director of Public Prosecutions.

34 exhibits will feature in the trial, including reports of leaking gases and fractures caused by excessive hydrostatic pressures at its underground coal gasification sites near Chinchilla.

The alleged environmental damages took place between 2007 and 2013.

Linc Energy CEO Peter Bond listened to the proceedings via phone.

His representative offering no comment as the decision was handed down.

Pam Bender of Chinchilla, widow to George Bender, said she felt vindicated by the decision.

More details will appear in this week's edition of the Dalby Herald.
