UPDATE: A man has been revived and is in a stable condition after being pulled from the water at a Milne Bay swimming pool.

A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman said paramedics received a 000 call at 2.09pm with reports of a near-drowning at the Milne Bay Memorial Pool in Toowoomba City.

She said the man, 20, had been "immersed for an unknown period of time" in the water and it is believed bystanders pulled the man from the pool and began CPR.

Pool staff are understood to have conducted CPR on the man who is suspected to have suffered a medical condition.
He was taken to Toowoomba Hospital in a stable condition.

Bystander Daniel Antonini, who had been in the spa area, praised the rapid actions of the pool staff who he said dealt with the situation quickly.

Mr Antonini said a man was seen running the length of the pool raising the alarm after the swimmer was found immersed in the pool.

"Me and my friends were in the spa area at the time then we came around and pretty much noticed one of his friends in little grey togs running back and forwards," he said.

"We didn't think much of it until everyone started freaking out.

"Everyone inside knew pretty quickly."

Mr Antonini said he saw staff getting CPR equipment and rushing to the man's aide.

"I wasn't sure where the lifeguard was but pretty sure they made it over there pretty quickly," he said.

"There was plenty of distress outside.

"Everyone was concerned but didn't really know what was going on."
