Qld officer charged for allegedly murdering baby son

A 38-YEAR-old Queensland police officer has been charged with murder over his baby son's death.

The Brisbane region senior constable was charged 18 months after his two-month-old boy's death at a Victoria Point property in June, 2014.

Deputy Commissioner Steve Gollschewski defended the decision not to speak publicly about the case until now.

"Particularly in this one, we've (been) very careful. Hence our involvement with the Crime and Corruption Commission to make sure everything has been done properly," he said.
