Meet Dalby's Australia Day award recipients

THE Western Downs Regional Council presented 46 awards to outstanding community members, including seven from the Dalby and district area during Australia Day ceremonies yesterday.

Mayor Paul McVeigh said it was an honour to recognise the recipients on the day.

"To win an Australia Day Award is a really special achievement and it's wonderful that we get to celebrate so many great people in our region," he said.

"All the winners deserve huge congratulations for not only making a difference in their local communities but also in our region," he said.

Dalby and District recipients include George and Sandra Hames for Citizen of the Year Award; Zachary Storey for Young Citizen of the Year Award; Tan McKie for Junior Cultural Award; Lionel Cubby for Senior Cultural Award; Bronwyn Henschell for Senior Sports Award; Erin Pascoe for Sports Coach Award, and the Lions Club of Dalby's LifeFlight Cubber House Project for Community Project of the Year Award.

Chloe Major of Dalby State High School, Campbell Evans of Dalby Christian College and Daniel Gillespie of Our Lady of the Southern Cross College were awarded Certificate of Achievement Dux awards.
