Police dig out enormous marijuana plants from backyard

DETECTIVES from Whitsunday CIB and general duties police were recently seen at a Preston residence assisting with the removal of dangerous "weeds" from a backyard garden.

Some of the "weeds" were up to 12-feet tall and required some strength to remove by the most overdressed gardeners in the area.

Police will allege a total of 16 marijuana plants were removed from the property with a street value of around $80,000.

Unfortunately for the property owner the "weed" removal service did not come for free and as a result police issued the 52-year-old man with a notice to appear at Proserpine Magistrates Court on February 8 for producing marijuana.

If you know of any other gardens with similar weeds growing in them report it to local police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
