Basketball competition a slam dunk

IT WAS a full on two days for players at the Dalby Basketball Competition on November 30 and December 1.

Mens and mixed teams played their way through the rounds on Saturday on the Dalby PCYC courts.

Sunday afternoon the hard work had come down to a mixed final between the Bad Habits and Win or Lose We Booze with Bad Habits coming out ahead at 51 to 40.

The mens final between the Polar Bears and the Hurricanes had the Polar Bears finish on a 6 point lead, 49 to 43, with the Polar Bears final two points coming in at the last seconds after the Hurricanes had started to close the gap.

Winning mixed team Bad Habits was comprised of players from both Dalby and Toowoomba.

Event organiser and Bad Habits team member Brittany Hayes said it was a good competition.

“There was some really close games,” Hayes said.

“Overall it’s been a really good carnival, everyone’s really enjoyed themselves.”

“We’ve got teams that have never come before but they’ve said they’re coming back to the next one.”

The next Dalby Basketball Challenge will be in March or April Next year but anyone who is interested in getting involved in the sport in Dalby in encouraged to come along and join a team with the local Dalby competition kicks off a the start of the school year.
