Bennett wants some Nikorima magic.

BRONCOS coach Wayne Bennett has sent an SOS for super sub Kodi Nikorima to ignite Brisbane's misfiring attack against the Roosters tonight at Suncorp Stadium.

Nikorima was named on an extended bench, but has been recalled at the expense of Jai Arrow after spending the opening month with feeder-club Norths Devils.

Nikorima trained strongly at the captain's run yesterday and Bennett is banking on the pint-sized utility to create havoc.

The Broncos have struggled to score points in the first five rounds and the lightning quick Nikorima could be the answer as Brisbane prepare to face a monster Roosters pack.

Nikorima underwent off-season shoulder surgery.

"He had a major operation and has had five weeks back in the local competition, so it's time to bring him back," Bennett said.

"He has great speed and good initiative but it remains to be seen how we use him."

The Broncos have a good record against the Roosters at Suncorp, having won the last three clashes between the sides at the venue - including the 2015 preliminary final which sealed their grand final berth.

Winger Jordan Kahu failed to train today as he awaits the birth of his first child, but Bennett is confident he will take his place against the Roosters.

Former Titans winger David Mead is on standby in the event Kahu is unable to play.
