Birthday for long- time local
TODAY marks a very special birthday for one Dalby resident.
Ivy Mary turns 95 today, and will spend her birthday this evening surrounded by family and friends at a dinner organised by her son Max Mary.
Mrs Mary lived most of her life at her family farm in Yamsion.
She was born in the farm on May 26, 1922, and lived and worked until she was 82 years old.
She sold the property in 2004, before moving to Kaimkillenbun and then settling in Dalby in 2005.
Mrs Mary had a surprising dietary secret she says has helped her into the elderly years.
"Eat anything and everything I think,” Mrs Mary said.
Mrs Mary said what she was most looking forward to for her birthday was reconnecting with old friends over dinner.
"I am looking forward to seeing old friends that I used to have while I was out on the farm,” she said.
Her son Max Mary said his mother was wonderful.
"As a mother and as a lady you could not get any better,” Mr Mary said.
