Young man dies in highway truck rollover

UPDATE 8.15AM: A 23-YEAR-old man has died after he lost control of the truck he was driving and veered off the road into a culvert.

It was a single vehicle crash, north of Injune yesterday, and preliminary information suggests the rigid truck was travelling north on the Carnarvon Highway at 1.15pm.

The man was about 53 kilometres north of Injune when it lost control and rolled off the road into a culvert.

The driver and sole occupant, a 23-year-old Yarrabilba man, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Investigators from the Forensic Crash Unit are appealing for any witnesses, or anyone who may have dash cam vision, to contact police.

UPDATE 4.15PM: ONE lane of the Carnarvon Highway is closed, as emergency crews clean up what is believed to be a diesel spill from a serious truck rollover.

The spill occurred after a single vehicle crash about 30km north of Injune, earlier this afternoon.

It is understood the incident occurred about 1.15pm, north of the township, near the Boxvale Road turnoff.

According to a Queensland Police Services spokeswoman, Queensland Fire and Emergency crews were assisting the local council in clearing the road.

"The road is not totally blocked, there's just one lane closed," she said.

The area has limited mobile phone reception.
