Brisbane Broncos weather storm against Canterbury Bulldogs

THE Broncos have navigated the State of Origin period perfectly for the first time since 1999, topping off their unbeaten run since mid-May by handing the Bulldogs a reality check in front of 16,253 fans at ANZ Stadium on Saturday night.

"I can't remember the last time we've done that as a club," said in-form veteran Corey Parker, one of the side's six Origin representatives this year.

"The most pleasing thing is that, regardless of who's pulled on the jersey, there's an expectation to do a job and they're doing that.

"Once we get out of this period now we'll be able to bunker down and concentrate on the next eight weeks of the season."

It's an ominous sign for the rest of the competition. Brisbane began the period by toppling the Knights two days before Origin I.
