Burglars on the run after two failed ATM heists attempts

IF AT first you don't succeed in stealing an ATM, go to another town and try again.

Police are searching for two people who, in less than an hour, attempted to steal two ATMs from shopping centres in two Lockyer Valley towns.

The two people, wearing protective face masks, broke into a shopping centre bunker inside which was an ATM on Main St in Fernvale at 11.59pm yesterday.

The pair was disturbed and failed to gain entry to the machines, and fled empty handed.

Less than an hour later at 12.47am, the pair forced entry into a shopping centre bunker on Gherke Rd at Plainland and attempted to get inside two ATMs.

The pair was again disturbed and fled the scene, last seen driving away in a blue Holden Commodore ute which has a damaged front end after hitting a gutter.

Police said both bunkers and ATMs were damaged as a result of the attempted burglaries.

Investigations are continuing, and anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
