Sunbus says driver involved in crash had "medical episode"

UPDATE: A SERIOUS medical episode is thought to have contributed to a bus crash at Weyba Downs.

A Sunbus spokesman said six passengers were on board the route 622 service from Sunshine Coast Airport to Noosa Junction when it crashed into a ditch on Walter Hay Dr about 6.40am.

"The accident was caused by the driver suffering a serious medical condition and he has been taken to hospital for treatment," the spokesman said.

"Two adults have been taken to hospital for treatment, with the injuries not considered serious."

He said Sunbus was undertaking a full investigation into the crash and was working with all relevant authorities.

"At this stage, Sunbus' focus is on the condition of the driver and the injured passengers and we wish them a speedy recovery."

A Queensland Health spokeswoman said a male patient was in a stable condition in Nambour Hospital.
