Cafe worker’s X-rated career change

Like many of us, Elly has been working from home since the coronavirus pandemic began.

Every morning she begins her working day by opening her laptop, logging onto her OnlyFans account and changing her status to "available".

The requests "start rolling in straight away" for personalised content, which for Elly can be anything from a bikini picture to pretending to be a texting girlfriend.

"If someone asks for a video of my foot or something I charge a high price usually, around $50," she said.

In a segment to air on SBS' The Feed tonight, the Sydney-based woman revealed how she's made $5000 of "easy" money in the month-and-a-half since joining the platform.

OnlyFans is a subscription site where content creators charge a fee for users, who can also pay tips to receive personalised photos and videos.

It can be used by anyone from chefs to personal trainers, however, is most well known for being used to make adult content ranging from racy lingerie selfies to pornographic videos.

Elly joined OnlyFans after losing both her sources of income when the coronavirus pandemic hit.

"So before I used to work in a restaurant and I used to be a DJ at night-time and work in the restaurant in the day time," she told The Feed.

"I lost my job because of coronavirus and I had nothing else to do to get money."

Elly discovered OnlyFans by watching YouTube videos about it and said she found the work pretty simple.

"People say that it's not an easy job. In my opinion it's an easy job, I feel like I could do it wherever I am in the world," she said.

The former hospitality worker plans to keep working on OnlyFans even when lockdown restrictions being lifted mean she could return to her previous jobs.

"I have made around $5000 since I signed up a month and a half ago. When I was working at the cafe I wouldn't be making anything near that," she said.

"So that was a really big shock for me, and I think I'll continue this even if coronavirus ends."

Elly has opted not to do nudity and will only share photos of her wearing bikinis, something she admits has seen her cop a bit of a bizarre backlash.

"I do get hate for not doing that (getting naked), as they thought they were subscribing to my OnlyFans to see me naked, but I never said that I was going to be naked on there," she said with a laugh.

But working on OnlyFans does come with privacy risks.

Back in February thousands of private videos from the site were leaked and shared online, with some of the content ending up on Pornhub.

However, Elly said she understands the dangers that come with her line of work.

"If you're going to sign up to OnlyFans just know that it's not going to stay on the website," she said. "One screenshot can go everywhere."
