BREAKING: A car caught on fire at Jondaryan at around 3:15pm today and its driver is unharmed.

The male driver was on his way from Brisbane to Dalby when the engine caught fire due to mechanical issues, on the Warrego Highway just east of Jondaryan.

"The fire is being treated as non-suspicious," Oakey police Senior Constable Warwick West said.

"The fire was caused by a mechanical issue and the driver was able to get out, unharmed," he said.

The incident caused a small grass fire in the area surrounding the car, which Queensland Fire and Rescue extinguished.
