UPDATE

THE driver believed to have caused a car to crash into a tree at Susan River is yet to be found.

A Queensland Police spokesman said reports indicated a green dual cab ute towing a boat was driving on Saltwater Creek Rd towards Hervey Bay about 8am Monday.

He said the driver went to overtake the car in front and drove onto the opposite side of the road while on double white lines.

The Chronicle understands oncoming traffic was forced to veer off the road to avoid the ute.

While driving on Hervey Bay Maryborough Rd, the ute driver allegedly rear-ended a white car driven by a man believed to be in his 50s.

The driver of the white car was forced to the opposite side of the road before veering off-road and crashing into a tree.

It is understood the driver of the ute did not stop at the scene.

Police are continuing to investigate.

Anyone with information can contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
