Census to come door knocking

THE Australian Bureau of Statistics will send nearly 38,000 Census officers out into the streets over the next week.

The officers will visit homes of those who haven't yet completed the national survey in an effort to persuade them to do so.

Census head Duncan Young said, "We need everyone who hasn't yet taken part to do so now, so we'll be following up with those households over the coming weeks."

The officers can be recognised by yellow satchels and signed ABS photo identity cards. More than 6.5 million households have now completed their Census.
