Chamber re-elects executives

THREE of the four executive positions have been retained by sitting members after Wednesday evening's Annual General Meeting for the Dalby Chamber of Commerce.

Chamber president Rohan May, treasurer Jenny MacNellie and secretary Tania Marshall were all re-elected unopposed.

During her treasurer's report, Mrs MacNellie highlighted the strong financial position the chamber is in, compared to this time last year.

Debts to the ATO have been cleared, and the chamber returned a surplus of close to $34,000.

Mr May said the tireless work of the treasurer was a big reason for the success of the group this year.

He also said the chamber had a strong year, and he was hoping for even more success for 2018.

"2017 for the chamber was a strong year for us,” he said.

"We are in a stronger financial position than this time last year, which is great.

"Hopefully 2018 will be another good year, underpinned by a strong agricultural season, which feeds into our retail sector.”

Mr May highlighted some of the chamber's success this year, which included investing close to $500,000 in wages for Dalby workers.

He also acknowledged outgoing vice president Jim Charlton, who retired from the board on Wednesday night.

"Jim Charlton has been an invaluable part of the chamber and has contributed immensely for us,” Mr May said.

"He will be missed, but we know he will continue to contribute to the chamber.”

The chamber is now putting the finishing touches on the Dalby Christmas Street Party, schedule for next Thursday.
