Pinnacle pub owners return with plans for major revamp

PINNACLE Hotel owners Andrew and Karen Guthrie have a lot on their plate.

They're back from taking a break to raise the children and have refocused their energy onto the business.

The pair has decided to revamp the beloved hotel, which has been home to the region's legendary "Pinnacle Pie" for the past 87-years.

The building has become too small for the amount of pie-loving madness seen on the weekends and during their peak times, Mrs Guthrie said.

The pair returned on September 1 and business was only one third of what they see now.

She said business had since boomed, as the "local" had returned.

"It has become really congested," Mrs Guthrie said.

"We get 400 people on a Sunday and they're lined up out past the door.

"Everyone is trying to get in and out of the kitchen with food, so it needs to change. It needs to be renovated."

So, that's what they're doing.

The husband and wife team, as well as their four children on board, have already painted the interior and exterior of the hotel.

A front deck overhaul, with new chairs, tables and an over-head front deck roof, is next on their list; followed by revamp and repositioning of the kitchen to the right hand side of the building.

Old photos of the pub will complement the aimed rustic feel once finished.

Mr Guthrie then plans to add in a "local produce shop" to sell the goods grown within the area.

"It's all about helping the community," he said.

"We don't compete with the coffee shop so we don't sell coffee. We don't do breakfasts and we do that for a reason, so everyone gets a slice of the pie."
