The smallest clue could give Chantal's family answers

ROCKHAMPTON police yesterday appealed to the public for information about the disappearance and presumed murder of Chantal Barnett.

Ms Barnett was last seen in February 2013. In September this year the missing persons investigation was upgraded to a homicide investigation after information was received from the public.

Human remains belonging to her friend Robert Martinez were found on October 22 but police are still looking for Ms Barnett.

Based on information received from the public to date, police have declared 16 crime sites and conducted 14 land-based searches and taken more than 400 statements.

More than 150 calls have been made to Crime Stoppers.

Acting inspector Paul Elliot, from Rockhampton CIB, yesterday said even the smallest pieces of information, regardless of how insignificant, could form the vital piece that finds answers in this tragic case.

"We as a community want answers and Chantal's family want answers," he said. Police have posted a $250,000 reward.

Call Crime Stoppers on 1800333000.
