Colourful fundraiser a community effort

WHILE some may take overcast weather as a sign to rug up under a blanket and spend the day indoors, the Jandowae community were out in full force for the third annual Jandowae Crazy Colour Run.

The event, run by Jandowae State School and Jandowae Kindy, consisted of both a competitive event and a fun run, in which runners made their way around a track, completing obstacle courses and beimg covered with colourful powder.

Annie Cusack, Kindy president, said the attendance had been strong despite the cool temperatures.

"We got around 150 to 160 people,” she said.

"We were a bit worried before the weather, but a bit of rain before the fun run doesn't really matter and it's worked out well.”

"It's been a really good family fun day, so I'm pretty happy with it all.”

"The course is awesome, it's lots of fun for everybody.”

The course was designed by a number of locals after being inspired by popular Tough Mudder style obstacle course events.

"We're always trying to think of new ideas to raise money, and being a school it's all about the kids and it's great to have some exercise,” Ms Cusack said.

"It's been a a whole community event, there's been volunteers from kindy and school and all around the community, so it's all thanks to them and a big thanks to our sponsors, they've been wonderful."
