Construction to start on lookout

THE Queensland Government has funded a new construction effort to a popular lookout in the Bunya Mountains.

Improvements to Fishers Lookout will include a new viewing platform and further upgrades which will continue throughout February.

Mayor Paul McVeigh believes the improvements will enhance the look of the Bunya Mountains, and will complement the upgrades to the walking tracks.

"As well as the elevated viewing platform, the upgrades will involve aesthetic improvements around the existing viewing area including new seating and covered area along with improved car and bus parking space,” Cr McVeigh said in a statement.

"We know people travel from far and wide to see the Bunyas and council is committed to optimising that experience for tourists and locals alike.”

The upgrades will be complete by June this year.
