REVEALED: Here’s what council has planned for the next bout of upgrades to the Dalby Aquatic Centre

Council reveals new plans for Dalby pool upgrades

DALBY Aquatic Centre is next on the list of facilities reaping the benefits of council’s $50 million COVID-19 Recovery Package.

New features being delivered to the pool will focus on sun safety, and comfort for swimmers, and will include new shade sails to be installed opposite from the newly revamped grandstands, and reclining sun lounges.

The shade sails will be equipped with durable, UV-R protection for a safer, and cooler environment.

Strategic Communications and Council Facilities spokeswoman Councillor Megan James said the upgrade would support local school carnivals and club events thanks to the additional shading.

“The Dalby Aquatic Centre is a community favourite and is enjoyed by locals all year round so we’re excited to see a new shade structure and lounging area constructed over the following months,” Cr James said.

“The new shade sails will not only add to the overall appearance of the Dalby Aquatic Centre, but they will also ensure sun safety which is extremely important at our local pools.

“This project is included in our Accelerated Infrastructure Program which plays a part in our COVID-19 Recovery Package and focuses on creating local jobs while improving our communities’ infrastructure.

“The Accelerated Infrastructure Program involves a suite of projects across the region which are currently in the works and I’m looking forward to seeing our active vibrant communities enjoy the improved facilities.”
