Dalby girls hit centre stage in global comp

IT'S BEEN a busy period for students from the Southern Star Academy of Dance, with many travelling east to develop their craft.

Emma Celledoni, Macie Allen, Gracie Mack and Brianna Celledoni attended the 'Come Together' convention on the Gold Coast last weekend, which was hosted by the Australian Teachers of Dancing.

Academy teacher Brianna Celledoni said the trip was enriching.

"At the convention our students participated in workshops taken by respected dance teachers from across Australia,” Miss Celledoni said.

"The girls learnt new skills which they will be able to put into practice leading up to our end of year recital.

"They were also able to make new friends at the convention from different dance schools around Queensland.”

Whilst at the convention Miss Celledoni attended multiple seminars held by highly credentialed dance teachers.

"It was great to learn off a variety of industry professionals,” she said.

"I left the convention feeling motivated and inspired to come back to dancing and share my new knowledge with the Southern Star students.”

Star pupils Schaila Morris, Eliza Bradford and Emma Celledoni also competed in the Australian Teachers of Dancing International competition hosted in Brisbane last week.

The competition was held from Monday through to Thursday, with dancers from Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia all in attendance.

"They all performed very well against high quality competition,” Miss Celledoni said.

Emma placed third in jazz and received an honourable mention in ballet, whilst Eliza placed second in tap, second in ballet, third in jazz and received the award for Most Outstanding Senior Performer.
