Dalby officers pause in memory of killed officer

A YEAR on from the tragic death of Senior Constable Brett Forte, stations across the region paused to pay their respects.

Senior Constable Forte died in the line of duty in the Lockyer Valley, protecting his colleague following a traffic stop.

Officers and staff at the Dalby Police Station observed a minute's silence this afternoon at 1.40pm, to remember the Toowoomba-based cop.

Senior Sergeant Terry McCullough said it was a sobering moment for his team.

"The police officers around the southwest district paused and had a minutes silence,” he said.

"It gives us a chance to reflect on the dangers of policing everyday and the risks officers have to take in doing their job.”
