Dalby pony rider's win at QLD State Titles

FIVE riders from the Dalby Pony Club competed at the State Showjumping and Jumping Equitation Championships in Maryborough.

Riders Dominique Holtkamp, Emily Gray, Zoe Turner, Gabby Turner and William Kropp were at the week-long event.

Fifteen-year-old Dominique Holtkamp had the most successful week of her young career, winning the Percy Bishop Trophy for the rider who accumulated the most points over the competition.

A silver in Equestrian and a gold in Showjumping on her horse, Life to the Max, led Holtkamp to the overall title.

Holtkamp, says she was not expecting to be as successful as she was at the championships.

"I just wanted to go there to try my best and I just want tot see where I could place,” Holtakmp said.

"The win came as a surprise.”

Holtkamp said that after her success at the State Championships, she has turned her attention to the National Titles in October.
