Dalby Race Club still meeting, despite fire

THE Dalby Race Club have had their first race meeting since their grandstand of the Bunya Park Race Course caught fire last month, during a series of suspicious fires to sporting grounds around Dalby.

Race Club President Bart Taylor said the meeting was well-attended, with over three hundred people coming out to show their support.

"We've had a fair bit of response from the public asking how people can help us out, but until the insurance claims come through hopefully in the next two weeks, we won't know,” said Mr Taylor.

"We're progressing slowly; the building's been made safe and we've had all the electricity rewired.

"As soon as we get the final assessment and reports we'll start a rebuilding fund up and anyone can donate to that if they want to help out,” he said.

Investigation is still ongoing and the public are urged to contact the Dalby Police or Crimestoppers on 1800333000 with any information.
