AFTER months of tireless planning and preparation, the 2017 Dalby Show is finally upon us, with thousands of locals and residents from around the region expected to flock to the Dalby Showgrounds over the next two days.

The show is expected to have more attractions for those who attend, with the Dalby Show Committee estimating that the show will be roughly 15-20% larger than last year.

Sideshow Alley began its construction at the beginning of the week, with most rides and attractions being set up on Wednesday.

President of the Dalby Show Society, Frank Chiverton, says that numbers in many areas of the show have increased to give patrons as much entertainment as they can handle.

"We have been told there will be a huge amount of rides this year,” Mr Chiverton.

"The horse numbers have also been rising by the day, so we are looking forward to some very competitive horse events.”

The increase in rides, animals and attractions has allowed the show to be able to cater to all of its patrons this year.

Mr Chiverton said that a huge focus of this year's show was making sure there was plenty of amusements for the kids.

"We have lots of show-bags, we are displaying children's art work and some of the schools are also doing performances, so there is plenty for the kids,” he said.

The return of the pig racing is one of the many featured events of this year's show along with the large number of animal competitions.

"We have a large contingent of miniature goats this year, and these competitions are just as competitive as cars and cattle,” Mr Chiverton said.

"We also boast one of the largest sheep dog trials in Queensland and this year will be no exception.”

This year has seen a spike in community engagement in the show, with volunteer numbers up from previous years.

Mr. Chiverton says it has been the highlight of the show this year.

"What is impressing me this year is the community support,” he said.

"We have had more community support this year than ever before.”
