Dalby State School on the money with this year's markets
DALBY State School principal Mona Anau knows just how important it is to give back to the community, especially one that has dedicated so much to the school in their hour of need.
Dalby now has another chance to extend the hand of friendship by heading to the Creekside Markets on Saturday.
"Our children give a lot to the community, and I think it's nice for the community to acknowledge the work that our children do,” Ms Anau said.
"Our school does so much in supporting the community, and this is the time that we're asking the community to support the school.”
The Creekside Markets is the main fundraiser for the school, and invites over 100 stallholders to set up shop on the school grounds and on Jimbour St.
This year's markets will include a show and shine, entertainment from the school bands, choirs and musical cast, as well as plenty of stalls with gifts and food for all to enjoy.
"There's all sorts of things for young and old,” Ms Anau said. " It's a really good way to come together and meet someone new, but also leading up to Father's Day it's always been a really good event.
"There's really no excuse for people not to purchase something.”
One of the highlights of the event, according to Ms Anau, is the ability for the kids to show off what they've been working on during the year to an audience outside of their own families.
"Components like the show and shine are something that's quite different. We're getting a different clientele and adding something new to the Creekside Markets,” Ms Anau said.
"It's a really good event where parents come together and work together to support their kids.”
The event begins with breakfast at 7am. The market opens at 8am and closes at 2pm.
