Dallas Buyers Club creators win landmark court case

THE producers of Dallas Buyers Club have won a landmark piracy case against Australian internet service providers.

A Federal Court judge has ordered ISPs including iiNet, Dodo and Internode to hand over the identities of account holders who illegally downloaded the Oscar-winning film starring Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto.

It is expected an estimated 4700 account holders will receive legal letters from Dallas Buyers Club LLC's lawyers about the breach of copyright.

iiNet has 28 days to appeal the decision.
