A HARD-CORE unionist in Toowoomba has quit his position as organiser after more than five years, urging his members to "maintain the rage"

Transport Workers Union local government coordinator and southern/southwestern regional organiser Brendan Bogle made the call as he announced his retirement.

He worked with the union for more than five years.

"We achieved a lot together and there is still so much to do," he said.

"Above all I will miss the delegates and members I have had the pleasure of working for."

Mr Bogle thanked his "comrades" and urged any replacement to put the union first, above anything else.

"From the day I arrived in Toowoomba you all made me feel welcome - I know the workers in our region are in good hands and will have their best interests well taken care of, I wish you all the best for the future," he said.

"I am looking forward to the next chapter and can't wait to see what happens next.

"Stay united and maintain the rage."

Mr Bogle had been outspoken in Toowoomba, urging Toowoomba Regional Council to give its workers a pay rise, which he said was long overdue.

He also spoke up over numerous transport issues including traffic lights on Cohoe St.
