JADE Sparkes is very aware that he shouldn't be alive right now.

On Tuesday morning the 34-year-old left his workplace in Kunda Park driving a flatbed truck.

It is the last thing he remembers before coming to surrounded by paramedics surrounding trying to keep him alive.

Mr Sparkes was the driver of a truck that drifted off the Bruce Highway before smashing into a concrete culvert, trapping him and his passenger for hours.

When they arrived, firefighters had to clear the area of debris before being able to reach the men.
