Driver in fatal car crash fronts Toowoomba court
A 29-YEAR-OLD man charged in relation to a fatal traffic accident near Jondaryan last year has appeared before Toowoomba Magistrates Court.
Ryley William Woodyard, 29, stood quietly beside his solicitor at the bar table as Magistrate Damian Carroll formally charged him with one count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death while adversely affected by an intoxicating substance and one count of driving while under the influence of liquor or a drug.
He was not required to enter any pleas to the charges.
A 30-year-old woman died at the scene of the horrific single-vehicle rollover near the intersection of Jondaryan-Evanslea Rd and West Prairie Rd about 4am Sunday, July 12, last year.
Two men injured in the crash had been airlifted to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane while a fifth person in the car received minor injuries.
A nearby farmer was woken by the driver of the car asking for help and he provided blankets and other assistance while waiting for emergency services to arrive.
Mr Carroll remanded Woodyard on bail and adjourned the case for mention back in the same court on April 4.
