Driver walks away uninjured
A LARGE number of cattle have died following a truck roll-over in Orange Hill this morning.
Emergency services were called to the scene 10km north of Roma at 10.51am.
The prime mover appeared to be travelling along Zumpes Lane and the Carnavon Highway when the B-double rolled over.
At the time of the incident the truck was transporting cattle, resulting in a number of them dying, including some being euthanised.
Roma Senior Sergeant Duane Frank said the truck driver was fortunate to walk away from the incident uninjured.
"It could have been a lot worse," he said.
"The trailers have obviously rolled over and as a result of that unfortunately a large amount of cattle have died.
"We have a number of people on site, including police, local council, road technicians and DPI, and they are assisting the surviving cattle, plus humane destruction of the cattle who are seriously injured and won't survive."
The road remains open with one lane closed.
