EPIC FAIL: Council tells drivers to do 100 in a 50 zone
A FRASER Coast Regional Council worker has accidentally told drivers to travel at double the speed limit along Charlton Esplanade.
A Hervey Bay driver has snapped a photo of a 100km/hour temporary speed limit sign erected along Charlton Esplanade; a stretch of road with a 50km/hour speed limit.
The council has admitted this was an honest mistake made by an employee.
FCRC Director of Infrastructure Services, Davendra Naidu said unfortunately someone moved the 40km/hour speed advisory sign exposing the 100km speed sign underneath."
"Council has asked the traffic controllers contracted to undertake the works to review their procedures to ensure that a similar incident does not happen again."
The photo has been seen and shared by hundreds of people across Fraser Coast community Facebook groups.
