AFL: Sydney Swans premiership player Tadgh Kennelly believes the AFL Women's competition need to clamp down on foul play.

The issue is in the spotlight following a string of heavy hits on across the first two weeks of the AFLW, headlined by Demon Meg Downie's sickening concussion.

Magpie Sophie Casey's hit on Downie will cost her a big chunk of the AFLW season after the Match Review Panel offered her a two-week suspension.

"This is uncharted ground and it takes time and a lot of coaching to get used to protecting the head," Kennelly, who adopted the game after spending his junior years playing Gaelic football, told Fox Sports.

"I have a concern - it's a small concern - but I know how difficult it is coming from the other side of the world and protecting your neck and head. It took me a long time to get over it and get it right. That's the concern I have with women's football."

Downie spent the night in hospital after she was knocked out during Saturday night's 19-point win over Collingwood.

On a positive, the plaudits kept coming for Brisbane Lions marquee player Tayla Harris yesterday after stealing the show in her team's win over Fremantle on Sunday.

Harris flew against four Dockers opponents to pull down a huge grab. The 19-year-old then kept her composure and nailed the set shot from 35m to seal a 13-point win.
