Extreme fire danger rating across south west
LOCAL firefighters are warning residents to be prepared ahead of dangerous fire weather conditions throughout the region on Friday.
A major weather system is predicted to move through the south west Friday creating an extreme fire danger rating.
Fire bans will be in place from midnight Thursday, September 5, to midnight Friday, September 6 across the Western Downs as a preventative measure.
Area Commander Inspector Warren Buckley said residents and businesses should be ready to act in
"We need residents to ensure their bushfire survival plan is current and they are ready to enact their plan when asked in the bushfire warnings," he said.
Fire crews throughout the region have been briefed and are prepared to respond when needed.
The weekend will bring cooler weather, but the strong winds will continue. The Fire Danger Rating will be at Very High for Darling Downs and Granite Belt forecast districts.
