Fletcher's pumped as parents open their own lolly shop
FLETCHER Hare, along with his sisters Summer and Ashtyn, are right now living every child's dream; their parents have opened their own lolly shop.
With everything from fudge to gobstoppers, skittles to tootsie rolls, sweet tooths Melissah and Neville Hare have sourced lollies from wholesalers in Australia and America to stock their new Wandal store SumAsh Sweets.
The last 12 months were tough for small businesses in Rockhampton, but Melissah said that never deterred them from opening their own shop.
"It hasn't really scared us," she said.
"We're still young enough to take risks.
"The amount of support we've had has been so overwhelming."
Neville agreed, and said opening their own store was something they had thought about for years.
"This is something we want to do … we don't want to be 50 and regret not doing something," he said.
Melissah said they had their heart set on opening in Wandal, where they live, because of the nice family-friendly community.
"When we go to Brisbane or somewhere like that we tend to go straight for the candy store, but we couldn't find anywhere like that in Rocky that sort of had that kid in a lolly shop atmosphere.
"We wanted something that you couldn't find anywhere else in Rocky," she said.
