Flood warning active for Darling Downs rivers

A FLOOD warning is active for the lower Macintyre, Dumaresq and Weir rivers.

The Bureau of Meteorology issued its latest warning at 8.07am today, warning that moderate flood levels were rising in the Macintyre River at Goondiwindi.

Downstream of Holdfast there are minor to moderate flood levels being recorded along the lower Macintyre River.

The report states the Macintyre River at Goondiwindi was at 6.23 metres and rising.

Elsewhere on the Dumaresq River minor flood levels peaked at Bengalla on Wednesday evening and are now easing.

On the Weir River downstream of Giddi Giddi South there were minor flood levels easing at Jericho.

Minor flood levels were rising downstream at Mascot on the Weir River and Mungindi on the Barwon River.

Forecaster Kev Hutchins said the flooding was due to rain over the last few days.

He said there was no rain forecast at least for the next week.

Mr Hutchins said river levels were likely  at their peak or falling.

It will be clear in Toowoomba for most of this week, with temperatures to be slightly above average on the weekend at 27 degrees.

On Monday and Tuesday it will be even hotter, with maximum temperatures to reach 29 degrees.
