Friend tried frantically to save motorcyclist's life
POLICE are undertaking further investigations after a woman died at the scene in the Bunya Mountains on Tuesday morning.
About 11am the Roma woman was driving her BMW motorcycle through the Bunya Mountains road up the steep descent.
The 54-year-old woman was travelling with a friend, who was a few kilometres ahead of her on another motorcycle, when she lost control of the motorcycle, veering left to the right-hand side of the highway. Her motorcycle travelled off the road before crashing into a tree.
The woman's friend then conducted CPR for about 40 minutes before paramedics arrived.
Paramedics were unable to revive the woman and she died at the scene.
Bunya Mountains Forensics soon attended the scene to investigate any further evidence.
Bell police said drivers needed to take extra care when riding motorcycles due to the road's sharp corners and unpredictable terrain.
Police urged drivers to take extra precaution on this road as it was a known death trap that has caused many accidents over the years.
