Fun run adds splash of colour to festival
FOR fitness fanatics and foodies alike, Dalby's Delicious and Delighful festival will have something to offer everyone, with Junior Chamber running a Colour Run on Saturday to appeal to the former.
A short run, walk or jog in the park will be accompanied by flying colours and fun activities along the way and participants are encouraged to wear a white shirt to maximise enjoyment.
Junior Chamber will create two courses on the day, both packed with obstacles and activities to keep runners on their toes.
A 500m course will be available for youngsters under eight to enjoy, as well as a 1km fun run for everyone else.
Tyres to hop skip and jump your way through as well as a maze and a laser style obstacle with ropes wrapped around a tree to manoeuvre through are among obstacles participants will have the chance to try out.
Jorja Taylor from Dalby's Junior Chamber said the event is all about getting people active and involved in the festival.
"Really just to encourage people to really have fun and get out and about with your family,” she said. "Most of the obstacles have been made by ourselves too, and a fair chunk of it is recycled.”
The Junior Chamber have innovated to create the courses, using mostly recycled items brought from home or sourced from local businesses.
All funds raised from the colour run will go towards future Junior Chamber events.
The Colour Run will be held from 1-3pm at the festival on Saturday, August 17.
