GALLERY: Words Out West gala dinner

THE atmosphere was electric at the Words Out West gala dinner on Saturday night.

Guest's enjoyed a three course meal with live music and guest speaker Kurt Fearnley who is a former Paralympian, advocate and author.

Fearnley has competed in several paralympics while also crawling the Kokoda Track.

Stig Weymss was the MC for the night and praised the efforts of both the Western Downs Regional Council and Mayor Paul McVeigh.

"It is great to see a man in power use his position for good, encouraging the arts in a rural community is a huge step and they have done a fantastic job."

The Words Out West festival took place from February 14-16 with authors, illustrators and journalists from all over the nation, making the trip to talk about their experiences.
