'Give a Farmer a Break' event a successful afternoon
GROWERS around Dalby were up to something a little different on Thursday August 29 with many turning out to Dalby Rural Supplies' Give a Farmer a Break event.
Growers and members of the community were invited to attend the event where three speakers addressed different relevant topics for the rural community.
Speakers included Shadow Environment Minister David Crisafulli, Mark Scanlon from Next Rural and Warren Davies, the Unbreakable Farmer.
Topics of discussion varied from the future of glyphosate regulations to succession planning and onto mental health.
Co-director of Dalby Rural Supplies Andrew Johnson said he felt it was a really successful afternoon.
"We had probably 175 growers and community people attend the event which was great,” Mr Johnson said.
"The day was about giving a farmer a break, it was sort of about getting them in and having couple of keynote speakers on the afternoon to discuss issues in the agriculture sector.”
Mr Johnson said events like this were important to Dalby Rural Supplies because they are very much a community oriented business.
"We rely on the community to keep our business going,” he said.
"John, my business partner, and myself are both born and bred local people here so the comm- unity give us a lot and it's something we can give back to the community.”
