GLENMAR Fuels owner Glenn Hentschel said he is thankful no one was badly hurt in a crash involving one of his trucks yesterday morning.

A smaller truck travelling in the opposite direction collided with the B-Double fuel tanker on the Warrego Hwy at Oakey at about 6.30am.

Mr Hentschel said he was relieved his driver, Peter Hearn, escaped with only minor injuries after both vehicles rolled in the crash.

"The driver's all good that's the main thing," he said.

"(Peter) was taken to hospital for observation but he's been discharged now - he's very lucky really.

"It was pretty nasty, we lost about two and a half thousand litres of fuel and it's a miracle that's all we lost.

"It's not a bad intersection or poor visibility - it was just a simple accident."

The driver of the smaller truck was uninjured.

Mr Hentschel said they were still in the process of transferring fuel to another truck and clearing the spilled diesel from the highway, with traffic being diverted through Oakey.

The highway is expected to remain closed until late this afternoon as heavy vehicle recovery equipment is brought in to clear the area.

Dashcam footage from a car following one of the two trucks is expected to form part of police investigations.

Oakey police Officer-in-Charge Sergeant John Cook said the crash is believed to have been caught on camera by a motorist but it was yet to be viewed.

He said charges are expected to be laid in relation to the crash but it was too soon in the investigations to determine what they could be.

"The Forensic Crash Unit will possibly lay charges but it is too premature to release that information," Sgt Cook said.

"It would appear that driver error from one of the vehicles is a likely cause, but the matter is still under investigation.

"Dashcam footage from one of the following vehicles may assist with investigations."
