Queensland jewellery thief at large

POLICE are investigating the armed robbery of a jewellery store at Southport overnight.

Around 10pm a man approached a male employee of the Minnie Street business, stealing cash and jewellery before taking off with the 41-year-old employee's car.

The employee believed the man was armed with a gun.

The man is described as approximately 175cms tall with a New Zealand accent, and was wearing a black hooded jumper/jacket, black tracksuit pants and thongs.

Police have since recovered the stolen vehicle but the robber remains at large.

Anyone with any information in relation to this robbery, or the current whereabouts of the stolen vehicle is urged to contact police.
