WITH all the woof-whistles and strokes he gets daily, one can only presume that Gordon Boland lives a "thug's" life.

Gordon is the popular house canine at the Red Lion Hotel in Allenstown. His fans label him the "Red Dog" of Rockhampton... and they say he's much more than your average house and hotel hound.

When the Morning Bulletin visited the five-year Australian bulldog yesterday, to catch up on his latest adventures, he couldn't be found anywhere.

His mum Mandy Boland (the hotel owner) paced the upstairs floor of the hotel for about five minutes to look for Gordie.

Several minutes later Gordon dragged his paws into the bar; his tail wagging uncontrollably, and sat next to a patron. Mum Mandy later learned her five-year-old "boy" had been catching up with the cat next door.

Gordon is one of the most iconic dogs in Rockhampton.

You'll often find that he is keen to lend a paw, if a Red Lion Hotel patron asks a bartender for a cold beer.

Over his years at the hotel, Gordon has learned how to open the bar fridges.

If he's not inside, he's outside chilling on the hotel bench. He gets all the attention, which on at least one occasion got him stuck in a hairy situation.

Mum Mandy said Gordon almost caused a car accident with one motorist, who was busy waving at him.

Gordon has his own Facebook, which he updates regularly. In one update, Gordon was chilling in the pool with his family.

He thanked all the girls who commented on his photo with a reply saying "Thx girls".
