Grant get kids ready for school

A GRANT presented to the Dalby Crisis Centre has helped bring 50 Dalby students back to school this year.

The Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal supplied 50 vouchers for $50 each to the charity, which was able to use the cards to supply uniforms and school packs to families in need.

"We managed to get 50 kids to school,” family support worker Irene Tanks said.

In addition to the 50 kids the vouchers helped, another 20 were equipped for back to school thanks to donations from locals.

"It's one voucher per child, for either the uniform outlet or Office Choice for the school book list. For a lot of them we chose Office Choice because we could then help them with additional stuff like school uniforms but with second-hand ones,” Mrs Tanks said.

"With both items we can really help them get back to school.”
