Grim find: Body found in bushland is missing man
THE search for missing Sunshine Coast man Rodney Fielding has ended in tragedy, after his body was found in a remote area of national park in the state's north.
Mr Fielding was last seen on April 15, before his car was found in the parking area of Cape Bowling Green National Park, near Townsville.
Police and SES volunteers scoured the area of bushland since then, before finding his body on Monday night.
Due to the thick bushland, location, and time of discovery, emergency services were unable to retrieve his body until yesterday afternoon.
A Queensland Police spokesman said there was no suspicious circumstances in Mr Fielding's death.
"Police located his body in an isolated area of the park," he said.
"Due to the terrain, police were unable to recover the body until today,
"Police will complete a report for the coroner in relation to the incident, which is not considered suspicious."
