Grinch ruins residents Christmas lights display
A CHRISTMAS Grinch trashed a resident's outdoor decorations last Saturday night, which has left the family upset and disappointed.
About 9pm on Saturday, Branch Creek Rd resident Karren Herron went outside to bring in her blow-up Christmas decorations when she saw one of the generator boxes had been tipped over but didn't think much of it at the time.
Later that night her son went out and came back to notify Mrs Herron that someone had pulled apart and ruined half of their multi-coloured LED net lighting panels that were hung over the yard's front hedge.
The next morning a resident further up the road located the panels and returned them to Mrs Herron.
Mrs Herron said the family had put up the panels that afternoon.
"I put it on Facebook and told the police but they said chances of finding the culprit were slim," she said.
"It's extremely disappointing because we enjoy putting up decorations as a family and it's fun for our younger children, Christmas is supposed to be a social and harmonious time for everyone to get in the spirit of the season."
Only four of the nine panels were left working and they will cost $75 each to replace, sourced from online or a store in Brisbane.
Mrs Herron said the family has taken further measures to stop the vandalism happening again.
"We won't let it stop us from celebrating Christmas but it has definitely taught our children a life lesson to not touch others' property," she said.
"We urge the public to notify police if they know any information."
