One Nation's Hinkler candidate makes misleading comment

ONE Nation's Hinkler candidate has been caught out misleading voters about his political history, as fears grow the fringe party could attract a strong vote in the seat, the Courier-Mail has reported.

One Nation candidate Damian Huxham told voters on Facebook he was a Liberal Party supporter until Malcolm Turnbull "stabbed" Tony Abbott, then he realised "they only want self preservation, not what's best for the people".

But Mr Huxham (pictured) ran for One Nation at the state election in January last year, and the leadership spill did not occur until September 2015.

He denied the statement was misleading, saying he was brought up a Liberal voter.
